Several private marinas provide boat launches. A launch maintained by the Forest Service is located near the Lake of Egypt Recreation Area. Boats up to 15 feet with no cabins are allowed on the lake.
This 2,300 acre lake with over 90 miles of shoreline is known for great fishing. The lake is owned and operated by the Southern Illinois Power Cooperative, Marion, Illinois. Take a leisurely cruse on your pontoon boat to a hidden cove or troll to your secret little nook for great secluded fishing. Water skiing, tubbing, and jet skiing is permitted in the designated open portion of the lake.
