Rock Island, Moline and East Moline are Illinois’ part of the Quad Cities region. Along with Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, they form a metropolitan area with a population of more than 400,000. This area along the Mississippi River has a rich Native American history.

Activities along the Mississippi, such as riverboat gaming, take center stage. Visitors can travel the river by paddle wheeler, ferry, water taxi or riverboat. The Mississippi River Visitors Center, historic homes, Rock Island Arsenal and military cemeteries are located on Arsenal Island. Credit Island provides parks, trails and a golf course. Other outdoor activities include, hiking and biking along the Great River Trail, which follows the river 65 miles through Rock Island, Moline and East Moline. On the river, fishing, boating, water skiing and parasailing are popular. Golfing courses are available throughout the area.

In The District, downtown Rock Island’s entertainment hub, visitors can enjoy restaurants, shops, nightclubs and the Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse, a dinner theater featuring Broadway shows. The Quad City Botanical Center is also downtown. The District hosts Gumbo Ya Ya-Mardi Gras celebration in June and the Ya Maka My Weekend reggae festival in August. On the south side of the city, at Black Hawk State Historic Site, 200 acres preserve Sauk warrior Black Hawk’s home and the Hauberg Indian Museum features exhibits of Sauk and Fox Native American life.

The Moline Centre area along the riverfront offers a mix of nightlife, restaurants and shops. The MARK of the Quad Cities the area’s top entertainment venue is here. Along with national musical acts and performances, MARK is home to Quad City’s professional hockey and arena football teams. A top agricultural attraction, the John Deere Pavilion features farming exhibits, a John Deere Store and the John Deere Collector’s Center.
